Before filing a bug, please check whether it has been fixed since the
latest release. Search the issue tracker and check that you're running the
latest version of Go:

Run "go version" and compare against
http://golang.org/doc/devel/release.html If a newer version of Go exists,
install it and retry what you did to reproduce the problem.

Thanks.

What does 'go version' print?

Using play.golang.org

What steps reproduce the problem?
If possible, include a link to a program on play.golang.org.

http://play.golang.org/p/qXZ4km_eNP

1. Run as is -- it fails
2. Uncomment out lines 29 and 30, comment out line 33
3. Now it works

What should have happened instead?

Both versions of the program should be identical; using an intermediate buffer should
not be necessary.

Comment 2 by ewt@pendo.io:

Turns out the problem is in the compressed input, not in go. Sorry for the false alarm.
