This tool wasn't updated for a while (so, it still assumes GOPATH-based workspace setup).
The 4-step setup described in https://go.dev/doc/contribute is not too hard to follow and needs to be done only once.
Let's deprecate this tool, and focus on keeping the official contribution guide concise and accurate.
