What did you expect to see?

vcs.* keys populated. My goal is to remove the custom build settings like these:

Experimentation shows that:

  1. go run main.go does not add buildinfo- that may be expected?
  2. go build -o main main.go does not add buildinfo- that may be unexpected?
  3. go build -o main does add buildinfo

Leaving open for feedback.

Looks like a duplicate of #51279
