Just scrolled the page, or used the internal page search.

What did you expect to see?

The page doesn't freeze.

What did you see instead?

The page often freezes.

I found that leaving the tab open for a while sometimes made the entire browser heavy.

This seems like an issue in Chrome. I've reported https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=1293300
