What did you do?

If possible, provide a recipe for reproducing the error.

go tool nm $GOROOT/pkg/$GOOS_$GOARCH/runtime/cgo.a

What did you expect to see?

success.

What did you see instead?

open /Users/hiro/go/pkg/darwin_amd64/runtime/cgo.a: unrecognized object file

Does this issue reproduce with the latest release (go1.9)?
