cmd/go: searches for fmt package in pkg folder instead of source #11516

I downloaded and built go from go1.4.2 tar file in my home folder. When I try to run any go file which requires fmt and other default packages of go, it searches in go/src/pkg/ instead of go/src. Can someone please tell me how to resolve this?
